Braved the cold again this time the OAT on the ground was 42 deg bearable this time. I was able to get some good clear day flying in started on the 08 intermediate sequence man its got a fair bit more inverted figures then years past but looks pretty fun. Still seeing my breath in the cockpit which is a little weird on up lines for hammers. But the performance in the cold is ridiculous. Changed the oil since I just hit 50 hours which was a good time to start using Aeroshell W80 Ashless dispersant instead of the mineral oil. After this oil change I will go to 50 hour oil changes as long as the oil analysis comes back good.

Today I tried to go flying again this time the weather was perfect except the 25 deg OAT. So once again 30 minutes of preheating and I took off performance is absoulutly unreal I calc’d out to be 3700 FPM unfortunatly I was pretty much freezing so I only flew for 0.3 hours. I could see my breath in the cockpit! Now that is cold.

Flying in the Snow
January 19, 2008
It was freaking Cold out and a storm was brewing in the west but I thought I had time to go flying for about half hour. So after a half hour of preheating I taxied out and took off climbed up to 2500 feet and right into some snow. I pushed over and got straight back in to the pattern and landing and taxied in a freaking 0.2 today oh well it pretty cold anyhow.

Flew the Wheel Pants
January 12, 2008
After a trip back home to see the parents and a trip to Hawaii I got back to the cold of Maryland to my beloved airplane. I was able to get some flight time on the wheel pants today matter of fact 1.2 hours of flight time. They flew well I think I am seeing about 5 MPH more out of the plane in cruise, but I will have to actually run a course to make sure. All in all I think the are a help and they look great. They will look even better with paint.
Flight time 1.2 hours 48.53 hours since rebuild.
